However, social media news also has some disadvantages. False or inaccurate information can spread before anyone checks it carefully. Users may share a surprising story without confirming the source. Another problem is that people may mainly see opinions similar to their own. Platform systems often show content based on past behavior, so users may have fewer chances to encounter different ideas or reliable opposing information.
